Prof. Yang Yongping and His Party Visited Three American Universities

    From March 1st, Prof. Yang Yongping, Vice President of NCEPU, and his party, went to the US to visit University of Missouri at Columbia (UMC), University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), and Western Kentucky University (WKU).
    In UMC, the delegation of NCEPU had a talk with Vice President Handy Williamson, and Lex Akers, Vice Dean of Business School, etc. Both parties introduced their own history and school-running philosophy, and expressed their hopes to enhance cooperation and exchange on the basis of mutual understanding. This year, over 10 students of Project “2+2” in NCEPU will come to UMC for further study.
    At night, the delegation had a talk with more than 20 Chinese teachers, doctors and post-doctors. Prof. Yang Yongping described the status quo of NCEPU and pointed out the urgent need for overseas talents; besides, NCEPU would provide the talents with broad development space. Prof. Zhang Lizi, Assistant of NCEPU President, introduced the status quo of electric power disciplines and his invitation for talents to participate and progress together. Tan Qinliang, Director of Major Scientific Research Center, and Xu Lingling, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office, illustrated the work NCEPU has carried out on major scientific researches and introduction of foreign talents respectively. All these kept the atmosphere of the interactive communication and exchange hot and lively.
    During the visit, the delegation also looked around the Laser Lab of Engineering School, UMC.
    In UTA, Vice President Yang signed with UTA the Memorandum of Cooperation, and reached an agreement on students exchange and establishing Confucius Institute jointly. The two parties also agreed to further advance concrete cooperation positively in the next period.
In talk with Ronald L. Elsenbaumber, both emphasized the mutual benefit and win-win result to be brought by the enhancement of scientific research cooperation and academic exchange.
    Mr. Gray A. Ransdell, President of WKU, received the delegation and they exchanged opinions on setting up Confucius Institute together.
    The Delegation visited the Combustion Science and Environmental Technology Research Institute and the site for Confucius Institute.
    The USA visit of the delegation makes remarkable achievements.
