President Liu Jizhen Attended the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) “Smart Grid” Theme Forum

The theme forum “Smart Grid, Colorful Life” of the State Grid Corporation of China was held in Shanghai on July, 26th. More than 150 representatives from 9 countries and regions conducted in-depth communication about several areas closely related to the development of Smart Grid and formed a broad consensus. President Liu Jizhen and Academician Yang Qixun were invited to the forum.

    In his speech, general manager Liu Zhenya of SGCC elaborated the relation between Strong & Smart Grid with the aspects of energy transform, urban development as well as modern life. He highlighted the significance of the construction of Strong & Smart Grid. He said that, nowadays, the function of Grid has been fully spread out. It is no longer the carrier of power transmission and the platform of optimal allocation of energy resources. What’s more, it will probably become one of the important signs of “the fourth technical revolution”, and through full integration and fusion of energy flow and information flow, it will further become the “central system” which will influence the high efficient functioning of modern society.
    Representatives from areas of government departments, industry organizations, power enterprises, colleges and universities, research institutes, manufacturers communicated the latest development of the international smart grid, attached the importance of smart grid, and discussed the methods and key technology in the fusion of smart grid and various information communication networks, and deepened the understanding of function of power system.
    The forum also introduced the operation of technical standard of Strong & Smart Grid. SGCC initially confirmed the research and compilation of standards from four aspects----electric vehicles, net of things and sensors, smart cities and high-capacity energy storage system, with the cooperation of top-ranking scientific research institutes. This will provide good opportunity for NCEPU to take part in high level cooperation program of the above fields.
President Liu said in an interview by reporters that the development of smart grid has been the consensus of academy and society. It has bright future but a long way to go. We need to follow closely in the aspects of disciplinary construction, talents training as well as scientific research. A few days ago, we had organized a seminar of smart grid of school experts, and further defined the objective. Now, the focus is to make progress and breakthrough in key areas.
