Vice President of Valparaiso University Dr. David Rowland Paid a Visit to NCEPU

On June 2nd, Vice President of Valparaiso University Dr. David Rowland, Dean of Graduate School Yang yan, and Dean of Confucius Institute Meng Jianyun paid a visit to NCEPU. Li Chengrong (Vice president of NCEPU), Liu Yongqian (Director of International Cooperation Office), Xu Lingling (Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office) and Lin Changqiang (Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League) had talks with them.

    Vice President Li first expressed warm welcome for the arrival of President Rowland and then introduced some basic information of NCEPU such as college features and scales, quality of faculty, achievements in scientific research as well as basic situation of relevant schools, laboratories and international cooperation, which enabled President Rowland to have a clear idea of NCEPU. President Dr. David Rowland also made a brief introduction to Valparaiso University. Valparaiso University is featured by cultivating all-round postgraduates; consequently, it has won great reputation among American private schools. In the meantime, President Rowland provided some information about current American college ranking system, which offered an excellent opportunity for attendees to known Valparaiso University.
    Vice President Li made a detailed introduction to the international cooperative programs of NCEPU at present. He pointed out that since NCEPU has established mature cooperative patterns such as “2+2”, “3+1”programs with other overseas universities, NCEPU hoped to expand project partners in American top universities. President Rowland was so impressed by the international cooperative programs that he agreed to have further discussions and researches on this project. Furthermore, both sides put forward several cooperation intentions including “3+1+1” combined bachelor’s/master’s degree program, American students joining in one-year practical activities in NCEPU, NCEPU graduates from relevant schools teaching Chinese in Valparaiso University, summer camp etc.
