Signing Ceremony of “The Kenzo Miya Scholarship” Establishment Agreement

On the morning of May 18th, 2010, the Signing Ceremony of “The Kenzo Miya Scholarship” Establishment Agreement was held in Conference Room 216, Division D of NCEPU main building. The Scholarship is sponsored by International Institute of Universality Company, Japan.

    Kenzo Miya (the founder of International Institute of Universality Company, Japan), Li Chengrong (Vice President of NCEPU), Wang Qinghua ( Director of Students’ Affairs Office), Chai Dapeng (Deputy Director of Students’ Affairs Office), Xun Lingling (Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office), Chen Xueyi (Vice President of Nuclear Science and Technology School(NSTS)), Meng Dawei (Deputy Secretary of General Party Branch, NSTS), Hua Mei (member of NSTS), Ge Chao and Qi Jianjun (members of Students’ Affairs Office), and Yan Yue (member of International Cooperation Office) attended the Ceremony. Deputy Director ChaiDapeng presided over the meeting.

    At first, Vice President Li, on behalf of NCEPU, extended warm welcome to Prof. Kenzo Miya who came all the way from Japan and expressed deep gratitude for his setting up such a scholarship in NCEPU. Subsequently, Mr. Li introduced the current situation and future prospects of Chinese nuclear power industry. He pointed out that Chinese government had been paying tremendous attention to nuclear power development and the development strategy had evolved from previous moderate development to active development, even rapid development, which made demand for talents in such field more urgent. As one of the five early universities engaging in cultivating nuclear engineering talents, NCEPU shoulders the significant mission to promote Chinese nuclear power development. Nuclear power is an emerging, distinctive specialty with promising future. In addition, he made a brief introduction of projects, such as “ordered nuclear power talents” and “Sino-French nuclear engineering double bachelor’s degree”.

    Prof. Kenzo Miya expressed thanks to NCEPU for warm reception and his feeling of honor for setting up such a scholarship. He then introduced Japanese International Institute of Universality Company which expected to foster friendly relationship between China and Japan in nuclear domain through launching scholarship in universities and sharing the benefits from nuclear power. He placed great expectations on the youth who was a must and played a key role in promoting nuclear power development. The purpose of establishing such a scholarship was to encourage excellent college students to devote themselves in nuclear power industry.

    The Signing Ceremony proceeded smoothly on the principle of conciseness and efficiency. Vice President Li and Prof. Kenzo Miya signed the “The Kenzo Miya Scholarship” Establishment Agreement respectively and took group photos to mark the occasion.

    After the Ceremony, Vice President Li and Director Wang had an amicable talk with Prof. Kenzo Miya and exchanged opinions on common concerns.

    It is a beneficial attempt for NCEPU to set up “The Kenzo Miya Scholarship”, which can facilitate NCEPU in cultivating talents in the field of international cooperation. Besides, it can promote the Sino-Japanese cooperation in such fields as nuclear power, and it is also of great value for enhancing the quality of NCEPU talent cultivation.
