Professor Liu Shi Awarded Beijing Advanced Worker

With the May Day approaching, the Awarding Ceremony for Model Workers and Advanced Workers was held in Beijing Conference Center. The Ceremony was presided over by Guo Jinlong (Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Beijing Municipality). Liu Qi (Secretary of Beijing Party Committee) made a speech in the Ceremony, and about a thousand model workers and advanced workers got awarded by Beijing People’s Government. Honorably, Liu Shi, a professor of NCEPU, was awarded Excellent Worker.

    On the morning of April 30, on behalf of the Party Committee and administrative department Wu Zhigong (Secretary of Party Committee, NCEPU) met Prof. Liu and congratulated him on winning the honorable title. Subsequently, they made a joint discussion on the smart grid research.

    Beijing Model Workers and Excellent Workers assessment is held every five years, and it is the highest honor that one can get from the Beijing People’s Government. We hope that the whole faculty could learn from Professor Liu and make their contributions to the development of our school and to development of our country as well.

    Professor Liu, as a doctoral supervisor, was chosen as a member of “Hundred Talents Program” of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in 1998 and now works as the President of Control and Computer Engineering School, NCEPU. He is one of the academic leaders of the innovative research team of the Ministry of Education—Power Combustion Measurement and Control System of Rapid Fusion and Distribution Information , and the head of the research team on the NCEPU key project Celerity and Combustion Optimization Measurement and Control System. He is also in charge of a key project of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC)—Research on Imaging Multi-Mechanism Integrated with Thermal Physical Information. In addition, he is responsible for three general programs and two of the State 863 Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He takes charge of one of the branch projects of NSFC—Research on Multi-state Process Tomography and one project of CAS innovation project. He acts as a founding member of World Industry Process Tomography Organization; Deputy Director of Key Laboratory of Tianjin Process Measurement and Control, Academic Board Committee; Director of Multiphase Flow Professional Committee, Chinese Society of Engineering Thermo-physics; Standing Director of Beijing Thermal Physics and Energy Engineering Academy; a member of Academic Committee; Director of Professional Measurement Committee; a commissary in charge of International Conference for Asia-Pacific Combustion and Energy Utilization. He also works as the editorial board member of Journal of Engineering Thermo-physics and Journal of Combustion Science and Technology, and a part-time professor for Beijing Jiaotong University. He has registered one type of software, two items of invention patents authorization. What’s more, among his academic articles, more than 20 are included in SCI and 112 are included in EI. And he has given 11 speeches in academic conferences. He also took part in the drafting of one national standard.
