NCEPU Held Appointment Ceremony for Professor Wang Zhongdong

A grand appointment ceremony was held on April 15th in the multi-purpose hall of the main building for Specially-appointed Professor Wang Zhongdong.

    Attended were NCEPU Vice-President Li Chengrong, Party Deputy Secretary Li Shuangchen; assistant principal and Dean of Party school Sun Zhongquan; officers in charge of Personnel Department and Electrical and Electronic Engineering School and other related departments; teacher and student representatives of Electrical and Electronic Engineering School. Assistant principal and Dean of Party School Sun Zhongquan presided over the ceremony.

    At the ceremony, Deputy Secretary Li Shuangchen awarded the NCEPU Specially-appointed Professor Certificate to Professor Wang Zhongdong.

    Vice-President Li Chengrong made a brief introduction of Professor Wang Zhongdong’s academic research courses in his speech. He pointed out that the research work Professor Wang is engaged in happens to be an important part of our school smart grid, intelligent electronic researches. Therefore, the joining of Professor Wang plays a great role in promoting our school’s progress in high pressure, smart grids and other disciplines. Vice-President Li Chengrong hoped that Professor Wang Zhongdong will give full play to the foreign and domestic double advantages, in the company of other teachers and students, to make new contributions to NCEPU’s development of discipline construction and scientific research in a brand-new view and concept, and to make NCEPU’s high pressure disciplines, intelligent electronic researches and smart grid enjoy a foothold in the world.

    Professor Wang Zhongdong expressed her great delight and thanks to be a NCEPU’s specially-appointed professor and its offering of such a good development platform, as well as her honor and pride of joining NCEPU. Professor Wang hoped, through the joint efforts of all teachers and students, she would make great contributions to the development of power discipline, the research on smart grid, the cultivation of excellent talents, as well as to the sustained and sound development of China’s national economy.
After the appointment ceremony, Professor Wang Zhongdong made an academic report on transformer relevant research, in which she highlighted the latest experimental results of “Transform Liquid Insulation Pre-breakdown under the Attack of Thunder”, “Breakdown Caused by Partial Discharge” and other projects.
 

    Introduction of Professor Wang Zhongdong 
 
    Wang Zhongdong, born in 1969, is a professor of the University of Manchester. She got her doctorate degree in electric power engineering at the University of Manchester in July, 1999.
    Having made remarkable achievements in such spheres as the design and manufacture of high-voltage power transformers, operating state detection, intelligence assessment, and the failure mechanism, Professor Wang is a famous professor in world-level transformer field and one of the decision makers of the world transformer research direction. Besides being a review board member of British National Science Foundation (research council epsrc peer review college member) and an editorial board of iet electric power applications (original iee), she is a member of “Liquid Insulation” Advisory Committee of CIGRE cigre d1.01. She also works as an expert in five working groups of Transformer Sub-committee a2 and Insulation Sub-committee of CIGRE. In addition, she has been appointed as a technology consultant by ten international power grid companies and large electrical manufacturing companies, leading and participating in formulating a large number of international standards of transformers. A total of 103 papers written by Professor Wang have been published, among which there are 23 journal articles and 80 international conference articles (including 7 cigre session, colloquium).
