Graduates Scientific and Cultural Exchange Forum between NCEPU and Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg Opened

In order to strengthen NCEPU’s international exchanges and cooperation, provide more communicative opportunities, as well as meet the demands of “reinforcing new energy development, school-enterprise cooperation and internationalization ”put forward by President Liu Jizhen at the Fourth Session of the Fifth Teacher’s Congress, International Cooperation Office and Communist Youth League of NCEPU held the Scientific and Cultural Exchange Forum between NCEPU and  Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg.

    At 10:00 a.m on March 24, the Scientific and Cultural Exchange Forum, which was sponsored by International Cooperation Office and Communist Youth League of NCEPU, and undertaken by General Youth League Branch of Logistics, the Student Union, Student Unions of Schools and Faculties, was held in the multi-function hall at the International Exchange Center. Deputy Secretary of the NCEPU Committee of the CPC Hao Yingjie, Agent-General for  Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg in China Dr. Dee, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office Xu Lingling, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Zhao Zhi, and Deputy Secretary of the General Party Branch of Foreign Language School Wang Shaohua attended the meeting. Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Lin Changqiang presided at the launching ceremony. 
    At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Office Xu Lingling made a speech. Xu pointed out“This activity will not only promote NCEPU’s international cooperation, but also deepens the understanding and friendship between the two universities. The opening of the forum has great significance for students from both countries, which will also lead to further cooperation between NCEPU and  Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg” Xu Lingling also stated that“NCEPU has always been putting emphasis on international exchanges and cooperation, and by now, it has established substantial cooperation with more than 60 universities and scientific institutions in countries around the world. Hundreds of teachers and students are sent abroad for communication and exchanges. In addition, NCEPU focuses on cultivating students through an international approach, and has developed joint-training programs in disciplines such as Business Administration, Electronic Engineering and Automation with British, Australia, and America etc.” At last, she welcomed German friends with Chinese proverb“It is always a pleasure to greet a friend from afar”.
    Next, Dr. Dee, Agent-General for  Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg in China, made some explanation for the theme and contents of the activity and shared his own thoughts. Since having been living in China for 10 years, Dr. Dee voiced his affection for China humorously in fluent Chinese. Later, he extended delight and expectation for the grand launching ceremony and the cooperation in English. After a brief introduction of the learning background of students in  Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg, Dr. Dee emphasized that the priority of their visit is to learn from Chinese students, so most of the exchanged students are majored in Business Administration, Economics and Law, Logistics. Dr. Dee also indicated, “These German students, selected by examinations, are excellent ones who love and want to know China. Therefore students in NCEPU can discuss not only academic problems but also culture with their German partners for the purpose of enhancing the understandings between the two countries.” Dr. Dee hoped that this communication and exchanges should“be free”, and encouraged NCEPU students to ask questions freely to their German friends, “Do not be afraid of your English pronunciation, since English is their second language too.” He said humorously. In the end, Dr. Dee presented exquisite gifts to NCEPU for gratitude.

    After the humorous and sincere speech of Dr. Dee, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Zhao Zhi announced the plan of the forum. This forum aims to promote NCEPU’s internationalization, expand students’ international outlook, reinforce Chinese students’ communication and exchanges with the outside, and deepen the understanding of two countries’ cultures. Then two topics were defined after negotiation: one is “East and West——Erect a Bridge of Culture”; the other is “The Comparison of Energy Policy between China and Germany”. In the meantime, Chinese and German students will have a series of discussion about heated topics such as energy and science, as well as plans to cope with climate change and energy shortage. The forum, lasting from March 24 to October 19, consists of 8 phases with one phase per month, and each phase lasts 7 days. And all the activities will be held in the multi-function hall at International Exchange Center. NCEPU will make greater efforts with the aim of erecting a bridge of friendship with the help of communication. Zhao Zhi also introduced” To make more students benefit from this activity, different schools and departments will undertake the forum by turns. We are thankful for efforts made by Foreign Language School who undertakes the first phase of the forum.” Finally, Zhao Zhi exerted thanks to International Cooperation Office and General Youth League Branch of Logistics, hoping that NCEPU students will be benefited.
    Later, Hao Yingjie, Deputy Secretary of the NCEPU Committee of the CPC delivered a speech. Hao first extended ardent welcome to the arrival of Dr. Dee on behalf of the Party Committee and the Administration, then he showed gratitude to the support of  Germany–UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES Hamburg and congratulated to the smooth convening of the forum. In the speech, Hao stressed“Taking advantage of learning Scientific Outlook on Development, NCEPU strives to cultivate students’ international horizon and communicative skills with outside. Communication and exchanges between China and foreign countries is the ideal way to realize internalization, which plays an important role in furthering NCEPU’s international development and cultivating high-quality talents. Carrying out cultural exchanges activities with other countries is very important and essential in the international exchange cooperation, and provides support for our university’s long-term growth. The opening of the forum also signifies that our university has opened a new chapter in international exchanges and cooperation.” In the end, Deputy Secretary Hao welcomed German friends sincerely and expressed his best wishes for the forum. 
    At last, after the conclusion drew by Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Lin Changqiang, the launching ceremony ended in taking group photos. The scientific and cultural exchanges then formally began, with Chinese and German students being divided into 6 groups for topic discussion.
