NCEPU Welcomes New Students

Thousands of new students from all over China gathered in North China Electric Power University on 8th September, 2009 in an active atmosphere. 5,150 students were enrolled in NCEPU this year, with 2,850 new students in Beijing campus and the rest 2,300 students in Baoding campus. Matriculate quality is improved compared with that of 2008. They will begin a new life here.

   All departments have set up the service desks earlier to welcome the new students on the square between Building 3 and Building 4. Many teachers and students offered service voluntarily. Most of the new students registered with the guidance of senior schoolmates, which rendered warmth to them. In order to make the register procedure easy and fast, “digital welcome” model was used so that new students can use their acceptance letters to register and inquire about the procedures. Most of them finished registration by themselves. Everything went well on the square.

    “Green channel” with green characters in white scroll is quite conspicuous, a project that has been running well for six years in accordance with the preferential policy of “never let a student quit school due to poverty” by the minister of Education. This policy enables poor students to register in our university with the application letter, certificate of poor family to postpone paying tuition fee and bedding fee. With its convenience, “Green channel” gains popularity quickly. At present, our university has established and perfected a multi-aid system with many measures as “scholarship, loan, assistantship, subsidy and tuition waiver”

    NCEPU also provided humanized service to the parents of new students, such as arranging school bus especially for picking up parents, setting up rest place around registration desks, and providing accommodation for them. These measurements were highly praised by many parents.

    During this critical period of prevention and control of H1N1 influenza, in order to insure heath of new students and their parents, the university enhanced the preventive measures, such as strict body temperature test at the school gate for ins and outs, and school doctors ready for emergency for the whole day. All these measures guaranteed smooth registration, and effectively controlled the expansion of H1N1 influenza.

    In recent years, candidates showed increasing interest to register in NCEPU, so that we have enough sources of students and increasingly recognition from the society. All this is due to the schooling philosophy of “to run a responsible university”, students-centered education, quality-oriented education, characteristic schooling, and great-leap-forward development. The school running level and comprehensive strength are largely improved. With improved educational level, high employment rate and good job opportunities, our university won high praise from society, parents and candidates.
