The Art Troupe of NCEPU paid a successful visit to Egypt

During 29th May to 6th June, on behalf of the Chinese Language Office, the executive body of the Chinese Language Council International，the Art Troupe of NCEPU visited Cairo University, Egypt and the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University and gave a special performance as an expression of gratitude and appreciation. This visit was vigorously supported by China Hanban Executive, the International Cooperation Department of NCEPU and the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University. The delegation——including Professor Zhu Changbao, the former deputy secretary of the party committee at NCEPU, Lin Changqiang, the deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee and vice director of the Art Education Center of NCEPU, Wu Yanjun, Director of the Confucius Institute at Suez Canal University, Zou Lin and Zhao Wenjian, teachers from the Art Education Center of NCEPU and twelve students of NCEPU Art Ensemble——visited five cities such as Cairo and Ismailia in which they staged five well-received performances with distinctive Chinese characteristics to the Egyptian people.          
On May 31st, the art troupe gave their first show of at the South Hall of Cairo University. Lin Fengmin and Huo Wenjie, educational officials from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, and Liang Yaqing, Director of the Confucius Institute at Cairo University, Dr. Rehab, Dean of the Chinese Department at the Confucius Institute as well as teachers and students from Cairo University were present at the performance. Leaders of Cairo University gave a warm welcome to the Art Ensemble of NCEPU and expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the high-standard performance with rich Chinese national  cheracteristics.

    On June 1st, the art troupe attended the opening ceremony of Mubarak Public Library of Egypt and staged a performance to Cairo children.

    Then on June 2nd, the art group visited Suez Canal University in Ismailia and gave a special performance as an expression of gratitude. President Ali and the teachers and students watched the show. After the show, President Ali expressed his heartfelt thanks to the art troupe and invited all the delegation to come to his home.

    Later that day, the art troupe also visited the Suez Campus of Suez Canal University and gave a show there. Director of the Education Department warmly received the delegation.

    On June 5, the art troupe came to Arish, the capital city of North Sinais, and communicated with the Arish Ensemble with whom they performed a show with traditional musical instruments from both Egypt and China. Vice Provincial Governor of North Sinai, representatives from the industry and commerce, teachers and students from Sinai University as well as local residents watched the show.

    This visit of the Art Troupe of NCEPU has been proved to be a great success in enhancing Egyptian people’s understanding of Chinese traditional culture, improving further Sino-Egyptian cultural exchange, and promoting the friendship between Egyptian and Chinese people. Meanwhile, the visit also gave a support to the development of Confucius institutes in Egypt. During this visit, the art troupe has given a wonderful show on Chinese brilliant traditional culture and made extensive exchanges with the Confucius institutes at universities of Egypt, which would do a great favor to their study about the Chinese language and Chinese traditional culture. Many students expressed their hope that they could come to China and further their understanding of China.

    The students of the Art Troupe also gained a lot from this visit. Several students suffered sunstroke from the sweltering weather of June in Egypt. However, they overcame all the difficulties at last and ensured the qualities of all the performances. After each show, the delegation would talk with the local teachers and students, and exchange pretty presents and contacts with each other. In this way, they presented hospitality, enthusiasm and confidence of Chinese college students in each respect. During this visit, the Art Troupe has won honor for NCEPU and expanded NCEPU overseas, which is a major measure of NCEPU to achieve art educational internationalization. Suez Canal University, Cairo University and famous energy enterprises in Egypt hoped that they could make further exchange and cooperation with NCEPU.

    On June 4th, the delegation visited Ambassador Wu Chunhua at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt and expressed their gratitude for his support on every issue of NCEPU in Egypt as well as on this special visit to Egypt. Ambassador Wu said that NCEPU had made substantial contributions to the development of Confucius institutes in Egypt and spoke highly of the performances. He has also been in support of communication and cooperation of NCEPU with universities and energy enterprises in Egypt on new energy development and utilization, and he would try his best to have this cooperation realized.
