Hip-hop Group of NCEPU Won the First Place in the Second “Zhangjiang Cup”

On May15th, 2009, the hip-hop troupe of NCEPU, took part in the Second “Zhangjiang Cup” Tianxuan D-dance Elite Invitational Tournament in Beijing, ended up defeating 15 universities including Peking University, Renmin University OF China, Beijing Institute OF Technology and got the first place, winning unprecedented result in dance education in NCEPU.
 
 
    Relaxing and free, hip-hop has been gaining more and more followers and popularities. To welcome the great Olympics, China hosted 10,000-people hip-hop so as to call on nation-wide participation in body building exercises. For college students, hip-hop is not only a kind of dancing, but also one way to show their pursuit for freedom and manifestation of independence.
 
    Since its establishment, the hip-hop group of has participated in many artistic practice within and out of NCEPU, and rehearsed and performed a lot of excellent programs. For instance, in 2006, Huo Yuanjia was performed in International Non-government Art Festival in Utah. In 2007, Come to Dance was performed in the second art festival of NCEPU. In 2008, the dance Youth was selected to be shown in national stadium on October 25th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of NCEPU. “So you think you can dance” and “On the way” were shown in the special dancing performance in the third art festival “NCEPU-the name card during my lifetime” with president Liu Jizhen’s inscription of “Fall in love with the dance in NCEPU”. Using a lot of creative elements of hip-hop, “Keep on dancing” composed by Wang Yuer attracted 120 students from different dancing groups up and down the stages to dance together, creating much of a stir.
 
     Participating in the tournament is of great significance for all the members of the group. Besides all the daily rehearsal and performance task at NCEPU, many members further improve their skills spontaneously. The good result was a good reward for their hardworking and also the recognition of their artistic attainments.
 
     After the competition, the members kissed the trophy and certificates, and bursted into tears for happiness and excitement. Liu Wei, nicknamed “Dabing-pancake”, said excitedly that “I have never thought of doing credit to the school by dancing on the eve of graduation. I am very proud for being a student of NCEPU and will never forget the time spent in the university.”
 
    Other students taking part in the tournament are Liao Hangtao, Wu Rangming, Zhou Zhibin and Zhao Fei. Thanks for their contribution to the university and wish them an even better future.
