International Conference of the 2008 Risk Management and Engineering Management (ICRMEM2008) Held in NCEPU

From November 4th to November 6th, International Conference of the 2008 Risk Management and Engineering Management (ICRMEM2008) was held in the Center for International Exchange in NCEPU. The meeting was hosted by NCEPU and the Risk Laboratory, Professional Risk Management Division of the International Association (prmia) of the University of Toronto, Canada, organized by Business Administration MBA Education Center, the National Natural Science Foundation and the International Association of University. And experts and scholars from more than 130 universities, institutions and international organizations home and abroad and about 200 teachers and students of the relevant departments took part in the meeting.

    At 9 o´clock on November 4, 2008, the opening ceremony of International Conference of the 2008 Risk Management and Engineering Management (ICRMEM2008) was held at the International Exchange Center. University Vice-Chancellor Professor Yang Yongping, China Management Science and Engineering Professor Ma Qingguo, deputy director of the Commission, the National Natural Science Foundation of the Department of Management Science Professor Xu Xianhao, professional risk management division, managing director of the International Association of David Koenig Ph.D., University of Toronto laboratory risk Dr. Dash Wu, the United States Department of Management University of Nebraska, Dr. David Lolson, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Dr. Edgard Gnansounou, City University of Hong Kong Department of Management Science Professor Li Jianqiang, Beijing Institute of Technology and Management School of Economics Professor Cui Lirong, Wuhan University Business School Professor Xu Xusong , the State Power Grid Technology Research Institute, Professor Hu Zhaoguang, and other well-known experts and scholars attended the opening ceremony, representatives from more than 30 universities and research institutions home and abroad such as Beijing Normal University, Beijing Polytechnic University, Beijing Forestry University, Beijing Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, Hehai University, Xiamen Jimei University,etc. and the related departments of the university attended the opening ceremony.

    At the opening ceremony, Vice-President Yang Yong-ping delivered a welcome speech to the guests and representatives on behalf of the university and expressed his heartfelt appreciation and warm welcome. At the same time, he pointed out that the risk management and project management are taken increasingly attention of scholars, and the 2008 International Conference on Project Management held in NCEPU is of great significance to the promotion of the construction and development, academic progress of the university. Yang Yongping, Vice-Chancellor also briefed the guests on the professional school settings, stuff, discipline construction, laboratory construction, research, development goals of our university, and wished the meeting a complete success.
    At the opening ceremony, Vice-President Yang Yong-ping awarded Dr. Dash Wu a certificate of appointment of the visiting professor at North China Electric Power University.

    President of the conference, Dean of Business Administration School of our university, Professor Niu Xiaodong presided over the opening ceremony.

    After that, experts and scholars discussed the topic “management innovation, and promotion of sustainable development”, concerning the project management, project investment management, energy economics, development strategies, as well as risk management and service management and other fields.

    The meeting also had a wide discussion of the excellent thesis collected.

    On November 6th, 2008, Risk Management and Engineering Management of the International Conference 2008 (ICRMEM2008) drew to the end and the conference was a complete success. The three-day international conference is an important meeting in management field. It provided a platform for exchanges and discussions to managers and academics at home and abroad in the field of project management and risk management research. The fruit of the conference will promote the management innovation and sustainable development, share the internationally recognized frontier research, and solve the most popular management and energy economic issues, explore new technologies, learn new ideas and so on so as to exert positive influence.
