NCEPU Delegation Visited the University of Manchester

On September 18 and 19, a visiting delegation of four headed by vice president Lei Yingqi visited the University of Manchester, and the two universities reached a consensus on further exchanges and cooperation on the basis of existing good cooperation.

 

    During the visit, the delegation first met with the vice president of the University of Manchester Professor John Perkins and the president of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Professor Steve Williamson. After introducing the history of NCEPU, vice president Lei Yingqi pointed out that existing cooperation in the teaching of power majors and students cultivating model had begun to take shape and had turned out to be quite fruitful, and this can be used as model for teaching cooperation in other majors. He also expressed his hope for expanding cooperation in the fields of research, academic, etc. The vice president of the University of Manchester John Perkins first extended his warm welcome to our four-member delegation. Then, he expressed his appreciation for the efforts that our university had made in students cultivation and in promoting cooperation between the two universities. He also gave a high evaluation on the quality of students sent by NCEPU. At last, both sides reached a consensus on further exchange and cooperation on the basis of existing good cooperation.

    After the talk, the delegation held talks with experts from School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Computer Science, School of Communications and School of Machinery, Aerospace and Civil Engineering in the University of Manchester. They also visited the laboratories of these departments.

    28 students from our university went together with the delegation. These students are top students in the 2+2 class, an international cooperation project for the Electrical Engineering majors and Automation majors. They are students who entered university in the year 2006 and who had passed the selection test and the interview of the Manchester University. After arriving at the University of Manchester, they would finish the last two years of undergraduate studies there.

    Established in 1824, University of Manchester is located in the center of Manchester, an important industrial, science and technology, and transportation downtown in Northern England. Up to now, the university has trained a total of 23 Nobel Prize winners, and that is one quarter of the total Nobel Prizes in Britain. In the rankings of world universities published by the UK Higher Education Weekly, the University of Manchester ranked No. 35, the fourth in all British universities.

    Our university signed the agreements on co-cultivation of students with the University of Manchester in 2006. At present, we have 39 students studying in this university through co-cultivation projects.
