NCEPU held Opening Ceremony for 2008 freshmen and Teachers’ Day Commendation Conference

On September 8 and 9, our university held the opening ceremony for freshmen of 2008 and Teachers’ Day commendation conference on Beijing Campus and Baoding Campus respectively. School leaders Wu Zhigong, Liu Jizhen, Zhang Jinhui, An Liansuo, Li Heming, Lei Yingqi, Li Chengrong, Li Shuangchen, Hao Yingjie, Yamg Yongping, Sun Pingsheng, aAssistant Principal, some leaders of functional offices and departments, representatives of commended teachers, and all the freshmen of 2008 attended the conference. Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of our university Zhang Jinhui and Hao Yingjie presided over the conference.

    Following the majestic rhythm of national anthem and slow rise of bright Five-Starred Red Flag, the opening ceremony for freshmen of 2008 and Teachers’ Day commendation conference started. School leaders gave scholarship to freshmen who got excellent grades in the college entrance examination and awarded certificates to the staff who has dedicated to education for 30 years, Beijing advanced individuals and collectives in teaching virtue and winners of Science and Technology Award of 2007.

    President Liu Jizhen delivered a speech titled Let’s Make More Brilliant Achievements Together from This New Starting Point. He gave a warm welcome and congratulations to the new students of 2008 on behalf of the Party Committee and Administrative Section of our university. He also expressed his gratitude to the students’ parents who have worked hard to cultivate their children. Finally, he extended festival greetings and highest respects to the faculty.

    President Liu stated that our university had enrolled 5050 undergraduates and 1647 postgraduates this year, with 2750 undergraduates and 1045 postgraduates on Beijing Campus and 2300 undergraduates and 602 postgraduates on Baoding Campus. The freshmen are from 31 provinces and areas all over the country. The average admission grades of Science are 53 higher than key university enrollment grade, among which seven provinces and areas are 80 grades higher than the province admission grade. While admission grades of Arts are 25 higher than the grades for key universities, among which 10 provinces and areas are 40 grades higher than the province admission grade.95.5 percent of freshmen applied for our university as their first choice. All these statistics signified a new improvement in our university’s admission grade.

    He also pointed out that a high-level faculty is essential for high-level universities. At the advent of the 24th Teachers’ Day, our university will give commendations to teachers who had made great achievements in teaching, scientific research and management. These teachers have been awarded for teaching and scientific research at national and provincial level for many times, and they have made great contributions to our university by having cultivated so many excellent students.

   President Liu put forward some requirements for the freshmen:

   —setting up lofty ideals and creating your own brilliant life with passion;

   —making efforts to make yourself a talent with profound knowledge and a broad vision;

 And finally

   —paying great attention to the cultivation of noble personalities and good constitution and developing in an all-around way

    Representatives of the freshmen, school students and teachers all spoke at the conference.
