Engineering Education Accreditation Experts Group of MOE Arrived in NCEPU

On May 26, experts group of engineering education accreditation from Ministry of Education, with academician Wucheng as the group leader and Duan Ruichun as the vice leader, came to NCEPU to evaluate the two majors of “electrical engineering and the automation” and “automation”.

 

    The experts first held a preliminary meeting making up on-the-spot investigation plan and discussing relevant issues. They also reviewed all the teaching syllabuses of the majors mentioned above, the faculty training plans and relevant documents.

    On the morning of 27th, the expert group will hear reports on the integral situation of the two majors and investigate the construction of basic laboratories to learn the comprehensive situation of our university, the orientation and characteristics of education and how we demand, support, manage and assess the two majors. The following aspects will be their focuses: the orientation of talent cultivation, the features and adaptability of specialties, the guidelines of specialty construction and to what degree it conforms to the orientation of talent cultivation and specialty characterization, the draft and implementation of teaching plans and course syllabuses, the scientific environment, the structure and construction of faculty, and students’ study and development. In the afternoon, they will meet with alumni and employing units to know about the ideas of graduates on the specialty talent cultivation system and the assessment of employing units, as well as the realization of the specialties’ cultivation goal, and what has been done to adapt the talents to social needs. In the evening, they will review the teaching and graduation theses and some other documents.

 

    On the morning of 28th, they will have a symposium of teachers on basic and specialized courses to see teachers’ views on training goal, quality of teachers, curriculum design, teaching management, usage status of teaching materials, and teaching methods. They hope to know their comprehension of the roles the courses play in specialty education in this way. In the afternoon, they will inspect specialized laboratories and reference rooms of schools and then meet with students from the two majors so as to hear their voice on the teaching and management of our university, to know their attitudes toward study, their capability, quality and sense of team work. What’s more, they intend to know their understanding of educational objectives and to what degree they have master their expertise. They will also try to know whether the students have mastered their specific knowledge and experiment skills.

    On the morning of May 29, the experts are going to Baoding Campus to investigate the engineering center and other labs. Then, they will have a symposium of teachers on basic and specialized courses to keep track of the development of talent cultivation, construction of courses and teaching force. In addition, they will ask for students’ opinions and know the situation of their study, experiments, and social practice.

    On the morning of 30th, they will have a discussion on our teaching and practice condition and then draft an investigation report. In the afternoon, they will draw a conclusion and report it to Ministry of Education on the basis of the discussion. Meanwhile, they will give us their accreditation feedback.

    During their stay in NCEPU, the experts will also conduct practical investigation through attending classes.

    The two majors of Electronic Information and Electrical Engineering are our first trial majors approved by the Ministry of Education.

    Engineering Education Accreditation came into being in 2006 in our country. As an essential part of Quality Project of Ministry of Education, it aims at promoting the reform of higher engineering education accreditation and engineering education, establishing the monitoring system of engineering education and the system of PAEE related to certified engineer system, and furthering the international recognition of our country’s engineering education. Its main purpose also includes enhancing the international competitiveness, erecting engineering education and trade contact mechanism, and strengthening the adaptability of engineering education talent cultivation to industry development.
