President Liu Jizhen Attended the Changping Energy Technology Industry Base Promotion Conference of 2008 Science and Technology Exhibition Fair

    Jointly organized by NCEPU, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation and People’s Government of Changping District, the Senior Forum of China’s energy strategy in 2008 Science and Technology Exhibition Fair—Changping Energy Technology Industry Base Promotion Conference was opened on the morning of May 25th in Loone Palace. The conference mainly discussed issues about the new mode of inter-regional economic development and Changping energy technology industry base construction. Zhang Xuguo (Secretary of the Party Committee of Torch High-tech Industry Development Center of Ministry of Science and Technology), Zhang Zhihong ( Deputy Secretary of Department of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization of Ministry of Science and Technology), Xu Dingming ( Director of National Energy Consultation Committee of Experts), Guan Chenghua ( Secretary of Changping District) and Jin Shudong ( Administrative Chief of Changping District) also attended the conference.

    On behalf of NCEPU, President Liu Jizhen attended the conference and made an excellent lecture on the following issues: our university takes promoting the national energy development as our own duty and is dedicated to national key research projects, and also performs the talent-cultivating system so as to meet the demand of new energy development.

    President Liu pointed out that energy is the fundamental material for human existence and development, and the scientific and safe utilization of energy is an important guarantee for sustainable development. The conference is in accordance with the spirit of holding “Green Olympics” and building “a Resource-serving society”, which will surely have far-reaching effects on the development of science and technology industries.

    President Liu introduced our university’s teaching characteristics, subjects settings, scientific research innovation and production-study-research cooperation to the audience, and pointed out that 50 years after its foundation, our university has been taking the national energy development as our own duty all the time and doing our best to make our university become the talent-cultivating and scientific research innovation base to support and meet the demand of the national electric technology development.

    President Liu then highlighted our university’s science and technological park. As the only State-level University Scientific& Technology Park located in Changping District, NCEPU impels the application and industrialization of major scientific and technological research achievements in 863 Project. Our university in succession established incubators on five fields: power system technology, simulation and control of electric power industry, new material, new energy and electric power software and currently there are more than 50 high-tech enterprises who have core technologies, excellent capabilities of independent innovation, potential of sustainable development and standard operation. Through standard operation and independent innovation, our university realizes the sustainable development of application and industrialization of major scientific and technological research achievements. Meanwhile, we also make positive contribution to serving regional economic development and promoting regional industrial restructuring and the development of high-tech industries.

    Liu said, “It has been ten years since NCEPU settled in Changping District in 1992. With the leadership and support of City Committee, City Government, District Committee and District Government, NCEPU has achieved leap-forward development and showed promising prospect for future development. The conference is a good opportunity for us to strength and to develop the interaction and cooperation between local government, enterprises and other colleges and universities, to participate into the establishment of Changping Energy Technology Industry Base. Emphasizing on integration of university Scientific& Technology Park and Changping Scientific& Technology Park, NCEPU will further play out advantages over technology, talented people and management so as to realize mutual win-win and coordinated development and to make greater contribution to the city’s economic and energy technological development.”

    It is reported that the energy technology has been sustaining a good momentum of development in Chengping District, Beijing. To 2007, there are more than 300 high-tech energy enterprises, Research & Development organizations, including CNPC, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), Shenhua Group Co. Ltd., China Huadian Corporation etc. Also more than 20 universities are located in Changping including China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB), Beijing University of Chemical Technology and North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) etc. Represented by CNPC and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Changping District has been the energy technology enterprises centralizing zone covering petroleum, coal, electric power, solar energy, bioenergy and nuclear energy.
