The 2014 Track and Field Sports Meeting Kicks off in NCEPU

      The 2014 Track and Field Sports Meeting kicked off in NCEPU on 23rd May. All school leaders including secretary of the CPC committee Wu ZhiGong, president Liu Jizhen, vice president An Liansuo, deputy secretary of the CPC committee Li Shuangchen, vice president Sun Pingsheng, Sun Zhongquan, and Wang Zengping, assistant principal Wang Qinghua, other correlative function departments, heads of each school, teachers and students gathered together to participate in the opening ceremony. Vice president Sun Zhongquan presided over the opening ceremony. 
 

      The sports meeting was hosted by our Sports Committee and Department of Physical Education and co-organized by Electrical & Electronic Engineering School.
 

      As the leading teams, flag bearers and flower bearers marched in orderly pace, which fully demonstrated the vitality and esprit of the generation.
 

      Then here came athletes from each school and labor unions. They were in high spirits and valiant, showing great passion and enthusiasm for both NCEPU and the sports event in their own way. 
 

      As a finale to the opening ceremony, the mascot “Little Electric Chicken” took the centre stage. The mascot was named according to a student survey online, whose name was a homophone for the name of a National Excellent Course—Electrical Machinery by Electrical & Electronic Engineering School in Chinese.

      As the national anthem played, the national flag was rising slowly in the wind. All teachers and students present faced the flag and stood at attention to salute the flag.
 

      Wu Zhigong, party secretary and chairman of Sports Committee in NCEPU, said in his speech that sports is a social activity which aims to build up health, promote overall development of mankind, enrich social culture and enhance spiritual civilization. Sports endeavors in high-level universities are not only an important means for teachers and students to build fitness, but also an important part of university cultural civilization and spiritual civilization, which exert a significant influence over strengthening the mind, nurturing team spirit and establishing a harmonious campus.

      Later, Zhang Zhehao, an athlete from School of Humanity and Gao Zhen, a referee from Department of Physical Education took the oath on behalf of all the competitors and referees, to follow the rules and practice good sportsmanship with rigorous attitude and sheer enthusiasm. 
 

      Amid the thunderous applause, president Liu Jizhen declared the opening of the sports meeting.
 

      After the athletes marched out, teachers and students from Electrical & Electronic Engineering School gave a splendid performance themed “NCEPU dream, Chinese dream”, which showed a vivid and dramatic interpretation of the difficult path toward a powerful sports university by teachers and students in NCEPU.
