The 2014 National English Contest for College Students (NECCS) has come to a successful end. The number of participants from NCEPU, Baoding campus reached 2,881, of which 148 was awarded national or provincial prizes, including 9 national grand prizes, 9 national first prizes, 43 national second prizes and 87 national third prizes.
NECCS, approved by Ministry of Education, is the only national integrated English contest for college students. Since 2007, it has been divided into four levels of A, B, C and D, applying respectively to postgraduates, undergraduates of English major, non-English-major undergraduates and undergraduates and training school students with special skills in sports and arts. This year, we won 16 prizes in level A, including 2 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 9 third prizes; 5 prizes in level B, including 1 first prizes, 1 second prizes and 3 third prizes; 127 prizes in level C, including 9 grand prizes, 6 first prizes, 37 second prizes and 75 third prizes. The proportion of grand prize winners increased by 21.5% compared to that in the last year if we take the proportion of grand prize winners and those who enter the final as a reference.
Eighteen excellent students were selected from NCEPU, Baoding campus after the tryout to enter the final for Hebei area on behalf of NCEPU. At last, nine students won grand prizes in NECCS final level C. These winners are: Zheng Ce from Accounting 1102, Qian Linghan from Electrical Energy 1106, Lan Junyi from Accounting 1301,Yang Can from Power Engineering 1205, Yang Xinyue from Communication 1301, Yang Chun from Electrical Engineering 1307, Liu Chang from Electrical Energy 1103, Liu Siwei from Electrical Energy 1302 and Li Kang from Electrical Energy 1002.
