During November 9 to 10, the seminar on “Development and Utilization of Smart Grid and New Energy Electric Power” was held in Zhuhai of Guangdong province, aiming at enhancing exchange of two projects of “973Programme” (National Basic Research program of China) and jointly seeking new ideas for China’s significant demands. The seminar, sponsored by Professor Liu Jizhen (chief scientist of the “973Programme” project from North China Electric Power University), was planned by Liu Jizhen and Professor Yuan Xiaoming (chief scientist of the “973Programme” project from Huazhong University of Science and Technology) and hosted by the two universities.
The leaders and specialists who were invited to the seminar are Wang Qingli, the deputy mayor of Zhuhai Municipality, Zhou Xiaoxin, the Chineseacademician of Electric Power Research Institute, Shijie, the academician of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Yang Qixun, the academician of NCEPU, and Li Ruomei, the secretary-general of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering. Besides, more than 50 other participants attended the seminar, including relevant leaders of Xiangzhou District in Zhuhai, Liu Junsheng, the president of Zhuhai Weihan Science and Technology Ltd., Yan Tiejun, the president of Zhuhai Hongfan Ltd., directors of “973Programme” projects and the main researchers.
This seminar was chaired by Professor Liu Jizhen and Professor Yuan Xiaoming. Wang Qingli welcomed every experts and researchers who participated in this seminar in Zhuhai. The leaders of Zhuhai attached importance to the industry development of new energy and smart grid, formulated strategic measures such as green and low-carbon economy and “three high and one characteristic” (high-end manufacturing, high-new-tech industry, high-end services, characteristic Marine economy and ecological agriculture), as well as having signed strategic cooperation agreement with China Southern Power Grid. In 2014 September, the Zhuhai mayor, He Ningka, visited the NCEPU and had in-depth exchange of views with the president of NCEPU, Liu Jiuzhenon the mode of cooperation between both sides. It is expected that this seminar would help drive the development of new energy and smart grid.
Representatives of directors from eight studies gave reports on the progress of their study. Then experts and researchers had in-depth exchange of views onmaximum access proportion and power angle stability of new energy, and there were plenty of heated discussions. The three academicians spoke highly of this seminar, in whose views, this seminar was a great innovative seminar, aiming at the cooperation between two “973Programme” projects with different focus in a same field. This seminar was capable of great enlighteningasdiscussion of China’s significant demands from different perspectives. It is proposed that the two projects should better cooperate in the following two years of implementation period and bring innovation in the basic research. In addition, it is also proposed that the two projects should obtain ground-breaking achievement on key technology, establish distinctive platform and carry out relevant activities to popularize scientific knowledge.
