Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education of Republic of South Sudan Visited NCEPU

    Hon. Bol Makueng Yuol, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education of Republic of South Sudan, Monday S.K., Counselor of Republic of South Sudan in China, and Vice-Presidents of five universities visited NCEPU on November 19th. Sun Pingsheng, Vice-President of NCEPU, had talks with the visitors.
    Vice-President Sun introduced basic information about NCEPU to the Minister from Republic of South Sudan. NCEPU is the university directly under the Ministry of Education, which has unique electricity feature including generation, transmission, distribution, and other related disciplines of power sector. Besides, it has been devoted to promoting the internalization, so the university has established friendly and cooperative relations with over 20 nations and regions. With 500 overseas students, it has been a multi-culture university. On behalf of NCEPU, Vice-President Sun welcomed the visitors and expressed their welcome to discuss about new cooperation.

    Hon. Bo; Makueng Yuol, Deputy Minister, showed thanks for the warming reception, and briefly introduced general information about the Republic of South Sudan and its higher education. Republic of South Sudan is the newly independent nation in the world, which has abundant natural resources, such as solar energy, water resources, and petroleum resources, etc. There are five colleges in the country, but the infrastructures seem to fall behind other nations because of the war. Since independence in 2011, the Ministry of Education has been committed to developing the key five colleges. With great reputation in the power sfield, NCEPU could provide technical support and guidance to development of the nation’s power and higher education. Then, Vice-presidents from the five colleges respectively gave brief introduction of their schools.
    Monday S.K. Kumber, Counselor in China, pointed out that Embassy of Republic of South Sudan in China has been committed to reinforcing the mutual connection. Moreover, he hopes both sides could sign the cooperation framework agreement and develop exchange programs for faculty and students as soon as possible.
    Vice-President Sun said that NCEPU would like to try its best to help Republic of South Sudan. Meanwhile, it is willing to receive excellent teachers and students from South Sudan as well. He suggests that the students capply for government scholarship or enterprises’fund so as to come to NCEPU for exchange and study. Through communication, we can strengthen mutual understanding and establish long-term cooperative partnership.
    Duan Chunming, Director of International Cooperation Department, introduced the learning situation of students from South Sudan at NCEPU, and had further discussion on cooperation details with the five Vice-presidents.
