On January 8th, Electricité de France (EDF) signed a donation agreement with North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) at the headquarters of EDF in Asian Pacific Areas in Beijing. The donation, up to 50, 000 Euro, would be used as the scholarship for NCEPU’ students majoring in Nuclear Power to study in Grenoble INP (INPG). NCEPU’s vice president Yang Yongping, Herve Machenaud, executive vice-president of EDF and president of EDF in Asian Pacific Areas, Aline Penot, executive deputy-president of EDF in Asian Pacific Areas and Pan Min, director of Publicity and Exchange of EDF in Asian Pacific Areas attended this donation ceremony. The head of International Cooperation Department of NCEPU and the Manager of Education Foundation of NCEP also presented at the donation ceremony. Yang Yongping pointed out that EDF, as a world-famous energy and power enterprise with strong technical strength in nuclear power, had made an outstanding contribution for China’s development in the field of nuclear power as well as electricity and power. Since early at the establishment of Nuclear Science and Engineering School of NCEPU, EDF had gave its vigorous support to the school. Through several years’ joint effort, NCEPU had cultivated a lot of high qualified nuclear power professionals. Mr. Yang, on behalf of NCEPU, expressed heartfelt gratitude to EDF for its donation and support to help the school cultivate globally competitive talents. He also stated that it would encourage more nuclear power students to study in France, and hoped these students would become the leaders in the field of nuclear power.
Mr. Machenaud expressed that nuclear power development is of great significance both to China and France, EDF was ready to participate in and help China for its nuclear power construction, and provide technical support for nuclear power security and protection. Meanwhile, he profoundly believed that China had broad prospect of nuclear power growth in need of lots of nuclear power professionals. EDF attached great importance to cultivation of nuclear power professionals and stood ready to give full play to it with NCEPU, so as to make remarkable contribution for the growth of nuclear power industry.
Following the talks, Mr. Machenaud and Yang Yongping jointly signed on the donation agreement.
