Archie Johnston, vice president of University of Sydney (USYD) and minister of Department of Information Technology as well as dean of School of Electrical Information Engineering at USYD visits North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) on March 11, 2015. Yang Yongping, deputy head of NCEPU, warmly received them and made an extensive exchange to deepen interschool cooperation. Archie Johnston gave his thanks to NCEPU for the warm reception. He noted that the cooperation of two schools had already achieved some substantial progress, and hoped that this visit could establish a longer and closer relationship with NCEPU so that both sides could benefit from it. NCEPU, possessing strong academic atmosphere and faculty force particularly in the fields of electric, energy and other preponderant subjects, offered a great deal of talents for the major enterprises in China, promoted the research and development of key projects in related areas and maintained close relationship with the Chinese government and enterprises. Mr. Johnston also expressed that USYD was willing to take the ongoing project of smart grid as a pilot program for cooperation, and gradually drive scientific research and cooperation in other advantage disciplines. Mr. Yang firstly expressed his welcome on behalf of NCEPU to the visitors. He pointed out that president Johnston had once visited here in 2013, within the two years, faculties and students of two schools had made frequent visits and exchanges on scientific research which helped the cooperation upgrade to a new stage. NCEPU had extensive cooperation with USYD in several fields and disciplines, and was ready to continue to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation in the respects of scientific research and education as well as projects promoting on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, he added. Mr. Yang showed his heartfelt wishes to this talks, and hoped it can achieve substantial progress.
Duan Chunming, head of Department of International Cooperation, talked with Mr. Dong about the details to step up cooperation, as well as the possibilities of cooperating in other fields. Both sides would sign the Interschool Cooperation Agreement soon, and gradually conduct undergraduate exchanges and joint training project of undergraduates, master’s and doctoral students between USYD and NCEPU, so as to establish and consolidate a strategic cooperative partnership between two schools and enterprises both in China and Australia.
