On July 2, the famous professor of University of Wisconsin, Thomas M. Jahns, visited our school. The vice principal, Yang Yongping, met with the guest, and together, the heads of the international cooperation and the electrical engineering faculty attended the meeting. Yang welcomed the visit of professor Thomas Jahns and congratulated him for being elected as the academician of American National Academy of Engineering. In the meeting, Yang said that in the past decade, a number of young teachers in our school came to the University of Wisconsin and worked as the visiting scholars in the Thomas Jahns’s research group, we were very grateful for Thomas Jahns’s contributions on the academic growth of the young teachers in our school and his efforts for two schools’ future cooperation. Thomas Jahns said that the activity of teacher exchange was very beneficial for both the North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) and the University of Wisconsin. In recent decades, the development of Chinese economy and the electric power industry was very rapid, and in the aspects of electric power projects and engineering, China had made significant achievements. The NCEPU had cultivated a large number of high level talents and actively participated in the development of China’s power industry. He believed that in the future, the NCEPU will play an important role in the cultivation of new electrical engineers. After the meeting, the professor Thomas Jahns visited the key national laboratory of new energy power system in our school and on the afternoon, made an excellent academic report for electrical faculty’s teachers and students.
