The 2015 Combustion Science Academic Conference of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics & the Progress Communication Conference of the Combustion Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China Held in NCEPU

From October 24th to October 25th, hosted by the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics and jointly undertaken by the National Thermal Power Engineering and Technology Research Center, the Key Laboratory of Condition Monitoring and Control for Power Plant Equipment, Ministry of Education and the School of Energy Power and Mechanical Engineering of NCEPU, the 2015 Combustion Science Academic Conference of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics & the Progress Communication Conference of the Combustion Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China was held in our university(NCEPU). More than 1,000 scholars, professors and graduate students from more than 100 high-level universities and research institutions in China and a number of overseas universities attended the conference. Experts and scholars gathered in North China Electric Power University for the common research and discussion on the academic progress, the scientific problems and the national needs in the field of combustion.

In the welcome speech, President Liu Jizhen pointed out that China is a country mainly depending on coals and the fossil fuel combustion will produce environmental pollution. Therefore, burning fossil fuels is of great significance for the energy conversion efficiency of the energy power system and the pollution reduction. In terms of the combustion science and technology, the Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics and the scientific and technological workers have been carrying on a long-term exploration and reach a number of creative achievements. The research of energy conservation and emission reduction must be paid special attention to in the energy sector, with the combined development and utilization of new energy and renewable energy at the same time. President Liu Jizhen extended a warm welcome to the experts and scholars to our university for the conference and wished the conference a complete success.

In this conference, there were 5 invited reports in total that represented the highest level in the field of combustion. Besides, oral presentations of 11 themes and 20 parallel session reports of the Combustion Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (including the major, the key, the international cooperation and communication projects, etc.) were scheduled, with nearly 600 academic papers included. This conference was successful, enhancing the communication and cooperation between scholars, further opening the academic vision of the majority of teachers and graduate students, playing a positive role in promoting the scientific research, the industrial development and the talent training in China’s combustion science in the future, and expanding the influence of North China Electric Power University. Dozens of teachers and nearly one hundred students of NCEPU participated in the conference affairs and the supporting departments (including the Logistics Department, the Finance Department, the International Exchange Center, the School Hospital and the Defense Department, etc.) provided a good service for this conference.
