On December 7th, the co-opted result of the 2015 Academician of China Engineering Academy was released by Chinese Academy of Engineering, announcing that the president of our university, professor Liu Jizhen was elected the academician of the Energy and Mining Engineering Department, Chinese Academy of Engineering. In 1976, professor, Liu Jizhen graduated from the major of Thermal Measurement and Automation of North China Electric Power College. In 1982, he chose to stay in teaching after finishing his studies in the major of Power Plant Engineering of our university. In 1989 and 1994, he respectively visited Queen's University as the senior visiting scholar and the visiting professor. As the director of the State Key Laboratory of Alternate Electrical Power System with Renewable Energy Sources as well as the chief scientist of "973" Plan, professor Liu Jizhen is a famous expert in China in thermal power generation control.
Professor Liu Jizhen has been long engaged in the large unit modeling and testing, the control theory and technology research, leading his team to conquer a number of key technical problems faced with the industry and has achieved a lot of pioneering and systemic research findings, successfully developing China's first set of information monitoring system for large thermal power plants in 2004, the complete set of control system for China’s largest ultra-supercritical unit with the capacity of 1000MW in 2011 and the control system for the world's first supercritical circulating fluidized bed unit with the capacity of 600MW in 2013, all of which have been widely used in engineering, with achievements of the remarkable social and economic benefits.
With 5 academic books, 32 SCI papers, 118 EI papers and 17 authorized invention patents, professor Liu Jizhen has won 2 National Science and Technology Progress Awards (ranked first) as well as 4 Provincial Science and Technology Progress Awards, having cultivated 36 doctoral students and 68 master students.
